It is important that survivors are involved and included when it comes to how domestic violence is handled. Survivors are the experts.. The more aware the community is overall, the better prepared they will be to handle these situations.
We are actively gathering information to be presented to legislature to expose the laws that are currently not being implemented properly. We are also working with victims who have been failed by the system. It is time that domestic violence no longer be kept a "Secret". It is a human rights issue that is not being addressed. People are dying at alarming rates and living in complete fear due to an infrastructure that is built to protect the abuser.
Domestic Violence leaves many scars. Some emotional, some financial, some physical and some external visible scars. When you have to see the visible scars every waking moment, no matter what is offered healing is unlikely to happen. We want to cover those scars with flesh colored or cover up to allow the real healing process to begin.
